December 22, 2023 (adoption) - March 19, 2025

Buddy was a great guy. He loved being around people and dancing to classical music guitar music.

He was also a prolific artist. Bettas create nests of bubbles when happy and content, but Buddy took the art form to a new level. He filled his tank with towers of foam and often integrated parts of nature, like leaves and floating plants into his work.

In his younger days Buddy was also an athlete. He spent many months swimming and jumping through his hoop at meal time, but his real love was dancing! Buddy’s lived with 2 guitarists and although he was unable to learn an instrument, he had a passion for music. 

As he grew older, his interest diversified. Buddy spent many hours hunting in the rocks and fighting the other betta that living the refection on the bottom of the tank. He also loved exploring, his favourite pastime was find small tunnels that look too small to fit through and trying to squeeze through them. He would carefully line himself up, bolt through and appear on the other side, fluffed up and proud of his accomplishments. His favourite game was chase the finger which he combined with flaring and deadly surprise attacks. 

Despite all his accomplishment Buddy was a sensitive soul who stayed down to earth. Every morning he would cosy up on one of his leafy hammocks and watch the sunrise this his musician friends. 

He will be deeply missed by his many snail friends, who would visit him at him leaf hammock wall. Buddy often spent many hours performing for them, dancing about and flaring his large fins.

On the morning of March 19 2025 Buddy went the the giant lake in the sky.
